Andreas Heinimann

Andreas Heinimann is the Associated Director of the Centre for Development and Environment (CDE) at the University of Bern, responsible for the guidance of five regional offices of CDE in the Global South; as well as a senior lecturer in Geo-informatics of the Institute of Geography at the University of Bern. His research focus is on Land System Science and sustainable development, linking research, development and policy. Andreas has almost 25 years of experience in research and knowledge diplomacy in the Global South. He takes up manifold functions in the international science community. He is a former member (2011-16) of the Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) and current Co-chair of the Mountain Working Group of the Global Land Project (GLP) of Future Earth, as well as Lead Author of the IPBES Global Assessment of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services.
